BT Counterpane - Managed Security Services search

“We could not possibly replicate Counterpane’s service ourselves. We couldn’t staff it. And even if we could, we would not get the benefits of Counterpane’s global view. They watch security incidents throughout the globe, and we benefit from that.”

SECURITY DESIGN INTERNATIONAL AND COUNTERPANE INTERNET SECURITY PARTNER IN NEW SECURITY SERVICE OFFERING

SDI to provide network discovery services to Counterpane's Managed Security Monitoring customers

Annandale, VA, May 22, 2000 - Security Design International, Inc. (SDI) announced that is has been selected by Counterpane Internet Security, Inc. to provide security consulting services and expertise to Counterpane's Managed Security Monitoring service customers.

SDI will provide preliminary network discovery services for Counterpane customers to determine the optimal location for intrusion detection devices. The network discovery will also document the types of systems and services running on customer networks, allowing Counterpane to customize its intrusion detection rules to provide unparalleled monitoring accuracy.

"Counterpane and SDI have maintained a professional relationship since 1997," said Counterpane Internet Security Founder and CTO Bruce Schneier. "I am very pleased to extend that relationship to our Managed Security Monitoring service customers so that they can benefit from SDI's network security expertise."

Counterpane's Managed Security Monitoring service customers will also have the option of engaging SDI services for the performance of comprehensive vulnerability assessments and network design reviews.

"Counterpane has positioned itself perfectly to fill a critical need," said Don Hewitt, President of Security Design International. "We have typically been unable to recommend traditional standalone intrusion detection systems to our clients because of the staffing and operation costs. Counterpane's economy of scale will redefine the possibilities. As a Counterpane partner, we look forward to complementing this new service by providing vulnerability assessments and related consulting services."
